Daphne
I think we'd get on well - I once bought my Mum a draft excluder shaped like a very long sausage dog.....purely to see the cat's reaction Have you tried that trick where you have something like a furry toy on your forearm, stroke it like Blofeld's cat, and then you move your hand under it, so it moves up your arm like its alive? Probably not explained very well, but OH can do it brilliantly, and it always makes me laugh (and either alarms or delights small children )
Alis girls
No not tried that but threw fur trim at Basil and he wrestled it to the ground - at one point he looked like he had a handlebar moustache. Little things... not sure when I will grow up -..... only 53!!!
mullethunter
When I got home from work I made some of nigellas Rocky Road with crunchie, maltesers and marshmallows to take on our environmental leave day tomorrow (we're doing Cornish hedging and it's going to be windy and raining - will need chocolate). I should've left it until later though because it's set now and I've eaten two pieces already!
Alis girls
Sad to see that the young girl missing in the Midlands (from my village) has possibly been found - well a body has. They get so many warnings re internet safety but still we read of kids meeting strangers. Feel sorry for parents - live down the road from my dad. patsylabrador
I'm in Germany for a Christmas Market. It's gently snowing, there was a group of musicians playing carols from arches high up in the cathedral wall, I have had lots to eat and lots of glühwein and bought candles and scents for my bath tonight. I've mentally noted lots I want to buy but best of all were the young lady and the bus driver who helped us when we got hopelessly lost. We didn't ask for help, they just noticed tourists looking confused and came up to us. Nice people.
Purplemaniacs
Hope you had a good weekend Lewis and Patsylabrador. I can't believe middle granddaughter is 7 today, I was there when she was born in the early hours of the morning and got her dressed for the very first time (as I did with all three ). It was a wonderful experience but where has 7 years gone???? All of you with children or grandchildren enjoy them while they are young they grow so quickly Chrissie

Cat tails
I still like this shadow! Going to Essen (Germany) in December for my Christmas shopping and definitely not hoping for snow! We are going by car. Great place though! LOADS of shops and apparently a great Christmas market too. Was there for work a while a go. patsylabrador
Have a fun time in Essen. I had a great time in Trier. I'm going to check out some of the smaller Christmas Market in London but not Hyde Park - that doesn't interest me.

Geoid
I work in a large supermarket (at the moment), one thing I have noticed a lot is people don't cover their mouths when they cough! Don't people realise they are spreading disease by coughing?! I am also currently on immunosuppressants (to control my eczema) so I am more likely to get sick
The Dogmother
Don't get me started on that! I had to teach people how to cover their mouths at work as I got fed up with everyone going sick. I got in boxes of tissues, asked them to use them and to wash their hands too.
Alis girls
We were in John Lewis and this woman assistant coughed over OH - we both promptly got some cold bug. OH is furious and wanted to vent his spleen on their website - but cant prove it was her. Only know we didnt have before she hacked over us. patsylabrador
Some stuff....... My Advent Calendar!!! OH who at this point I love dearly got me a nail polish advent calendar. It's beautiful with a stylish London scene and every door has a 'beauty' message and behind every door is a nail care related product. It's very lush and I feel pampered and excited to open the door. Cosmonauts - if you're interested in the space race the new Science Museum exhibition is fascinating. Hyde Park - we were climbing back into YS's car when some police on bikes and horses went past escorting carriages with some VIPs. I think they were on way to Kensington Palace. Anyway, that was a hoot. The Serpentine - looked quite gloomy but I could see the lights fromthe Winter Wonderland in the distance and nearby the trees were busy with parakeets. They were fun. Babymetal - we've bought tickets for next April at Wembley. Maybe an acquired taste but I love their sound and it should be a fun night, especially as it won't be long before we go to Japan. Altogether a good week.

chickencam
I always mean to look for quirky advent calendars but never quite get around to it. We have looked at a whiskey ones a couple of times, but they are just too expensive.
