Is it normal for the girlfriend of my eldest to "borrow" my toiletries whilst staying at my house? This is not the first time i have found my stuff in odd places round the house. I don't mind i wasn't there to ask. But it's a bit cheeky. I know girls pilfer their mums stuff as my friends moan about it, but their sons girlfriends doing the same to a woman who ain't mum? He's had 2 steady g/f and they both did it. In every other way i really like her. I wouldn't have known except she's untidy. I might write "hands off" on my stuff. I don't mind providing stuff for guests if they ask but I kind of assume they'll bring their own toiletries. I have a lot of 'ooh, can we possibly come and stay as you're so near London' visitors. A few years ago a very good friend came to stay with her daughter. S is like a sister to me and I wouldn't have refused her anything but I was rather nonplussed when, after three days (during which they'd been out every day with easy access to shops) she announced that they really liked my roll-on deodorant which they'd both been borrowing as they'd forgotten theirs! And if you are there longer, than you just take your own stuff as it was most likely a planned stay... I once had a relative use my shaver... and not clean out the hairs, or tell me she used it... And I would certainly not expect stuff to walk around the house, or for it to be a relay thing. I would happily let her borrow anything if she had forgotten something or run out. I once provided a toothbrush for ED's boyfriend when he had forgotten his. I usually have a few spares around. It's a free search weekend on Ancestry, I only discovered that today and thought I'd have another bash at researching my family history, I do it intermittently when I'm in the mood. My grandmother was born in 1885 or so, and I knew that her parents were not married (highly amusing when we discovered this as granny was very prim and proper) and that her father had been married before. I have struggled to find anything about him other than his birth. Not sure what I did right today but I discovered the divorce petition from his wife. Not only does he sound a rather nasty piece of work, but they had NINE children together before he ran off with their cook, my great-grandmother, and had another six children with her! I don't know if my grandmother ever knew about her half-siblings, certainly she never talked about the fact that her father had been married before. Now I'm wondering where their descendants are ... My gran was one of 12. Thankfully the number of offspring has dwindled over the years and her mum got pregnant out of wedlock and then married another bloke. The Walton's it wasn't. The Dogmother Posted April 18, 2017 Share Posted April 18, 2017 Was out on Sunday, and saw a pen full of young Polish hens with white top-knots - they looked for all the world like animated table lamps OH had never seen that breed before and couldn't stop laughing, I explained that they are inclined to be really dim, and need to be looked after as they tend to get bullied. The owner had penned them with some miniature Silkies - the one breed that I don't care for - for their own safety... the latter are also daft, and no harm to anything else. Stayed up all night on Wednesday and then after the test we went to the uni Game farm to immobilise deer and mouflon with dart guns so I was exhausted this morning Slept most of today but it was worth it! Yep, people love the romantic idea of lambing out in the countryside but the reality of caesareans in the cold at 4am for what is really very little money is quite different I see practice at a lovely mixed practice who would be great to work for and also at a big charity hospital who have a massive case load so I get to do lots and learn so much being there! Ideally I'd like to do something like that before specialising in avian straight away so that if I don't like it, I haven't burnt my bridges.
