Serious spring fever has hit me. I have been sorting and cleaning all week. I have just gone through my dry goods cupboard and thrown out a few bags of pulses etc that were about 5 years old. It obviously seemed like a good idea at the time. I am so good at not wasting fresh food, but not so good with dried ones, they get bought for one recipe a small amount used then thrown away many years later. I feel bad but it was quite cathartic and they did go into food waste for recycling not landfill. Now what to tackle next, not sure I am brave enough for the tops of the kitchen cupboards at this time in the afternoon. Cup of tea and a think

I've just pulled out a chest of drawers and cleaned behind it - not been touched for several years  I also had a rush of blood to the head and cleaned all the windows inside and did a small amount of hoovering (waste of time as OH and neighbour are working on the house repairing stuff). This caused neighbour to ask if I was expecting visitors. Cheeky monkey

Then I got a paintbrush wielding OH and asked him to paint the wall behind the CoD (luckily everything in this house is white). It all looks nice and fresh - definitely my new way of cleaning :D

Awesome video PL 8)

Is that in Japan?

Very annoying Fred, have they said what the problem is?

I know how much of a pain booking OR engineers out is  If they have to visit the house make sure you unplug everything from the phone sockets (phone, router, house alarm, TV, PS3 etc) so they can't blame your equipment for anything (they will if they can).

Make sure they open a Complaint on your account, not an enquiry, and claim for your Loss of Service credit too.

I have spring fever too! Did DS's room yesterday (no nasties hidden away thank goodness) and today I have made a start on our bedroom. It's got a bit of a damp problem with a wardrobe next to a north facing wall so have had to turn the whole room around. And use lots of bleach. Just got lots of boxes of things to sort out now that have been kept 'just in case' for far too long  Once that's sorted, and assuming I still have the motivation, it's the kitchens turn  and then the bathroom.

have they said what the problem is?

Yes, a problem with the exchange, which means they have to dig up the road to fix it. But they had to get permission from the council first before they start work.

Don't worry, a written letter of complaint, outlining my financial loss (including a copy of my mobile bill) will be sent to them, once it is fixed.

DM - these things come in threes!

I am wasting time on forum whilst trying make GP appt for a very painful ear. I think I have glue ear as its sooo sore, Nurofen and Paracetamol havent touched it and nor have decongestants. I am doing the emis on line thing for a same day appt. Took today sick as frankly am fed up with dragging myself in when feeling below par. I think I might be dead before I get an appointment - ironic that I work in gp surgery. Thing is if you let a Doc at work have a look they will say its fine as they dont want you to be ill.

Good luck AG - so glad you got an appointment - hope the dr is able to sort things out for you

I've finally relented and booked a GP appt for next week (booked last week, two weeks away was the earliest I could get - not urgent though, so doesn't matter) Only problem is I'm scared WITLESS of doctors so get to spend a whole fortnight stressing about a 10 minute appointment :(

Bittersweet last lunch with my friends and their kids before they head off back home to Australia tonight after a four week visit  I am utterly rubbish at saying goodbye, i cant imagine how her twin sister will be later at the airport :( On the upside, at least we did get to spend a fair amount of time together. Probably be another two years until we get to do the same again. Unless we win the lottery and then we can fly to them :D

Great photo!

Spent yesterday in A&E with a young colleague who slipped on the ice in the school carpark. Ambulance called as it was obvious she'd broken her ankle, poor girl. She was distraught as she only started as a teacher with us a couple of months ago and had some new pupils starting this week (quite a difficult time in a special school).

Nice photo Lewis. I'm jealous of you and ES. I'm hopeless at anything where my legs and feet aren't on firm ground. I cannot ski or skate and I am dangerous on a pedal cycle.

Gorgeous spring day and made some great progress in the garden. The chickens had a great time too just randomly running around it seemed.

At long last my kitchen is finished - sort of. I'm not sure whether to post a picture, it's very much my taste and I've been told I have none!!! I adore it and it's such fun to work in.
