One reject was tuna in brine. We have tuna in water and no way are we having salty stuff when OH has his heart tablets. The other was botty wipes for me - I like the safe to flush even though we can't flush them in our system - I wouldn't have minded but I was still in bed at the time!!!!! Day 4 of sunshine! The image won't leave my head! Those are lovely flowers DM; I am putting a bunch in with my Mum's online order if I can. Even though we are in a small village there is a marked reduction in footfall around and about but I understand that the local footpaths are being well used! I hear there are also patrols stopping cars to check on the validity of their journey. I had to take a couple of work vans out to keep their batteries going today and there weren’t all that many cars on the road - mostly vans and lorries. On the other hand, I went to Asda today for the first time in 2 weeks today and - PEOPLE!!!! Asda have done their best...they’re limiting how many people go in at one time, have put arrows to make a one way system and showed how far 2m is to keep apart at checkouts, but so many people are just ignoring all of it! One woman actually leaned across in front of me to get paracetamol! There was plenty of food / everything on the shelves and it wasn’t busy - would have been easy to keep 2m apart but it was like people either had no idea what 2m looked like or they didn’t care or just forgot everything else while shopping. It made it really stressful (which it was anyway as I was shopping for 3 households!). I forgot the applause for care workers but what I’ve seen on Instagram looked fantastic. People are respectful of the 2m distance and there seems to be an unspoken protocol whereby, if you see someone coming towards you, one party crosses to the other side of the road to pass then crosses back again. It's like some sort of weird country dance😂. Our local pub is selling some meat (rib eye steak, chickens, pork chops, bacon and sausages) as well as fr eggs and salted butter. They promise us bread flour for Tuesday which OH is very excited about! They are also doing pub food to takeaway - ordered in advance, bring your own container! Cat tails Posted March 28, 2020 Share Posted March 28, 2020 On another note: Had to take Red to the vet on Thursday night. He came in and turned my house into a respectable crime scene within seconds! His toe was bleeding quite enthusiastically and the blood ended up on the walls before I knew it. Red wasn’t bothered one bit, but called the vet. She told me to put a pressure bandage on his leg and take it off in half an hour and see if it stopped bleeding. Well... it didn’t... So off to the vet with a cross cat on the back of my bicycle. (Don’t have a car) Turns out another cat must have caught a nail in his toe and cut an artery. That was never going to stop bleeding on it’s own! Vet closed the whole with glue and bandaged his leg again. Needed to keep him in overnight and take off the bandage the next day. Well... Red is NOT an indoor cat... Kept him in my kitchen, but he meowed his way through the night... when I went to check on him at 4:30 he already took off his bandage... bleeping cat! 👿 Luckily no more bleeding! We are in the same boat, the day before yesterday our young cat was nowhere to be seen, then heard miaowing pathetically under a bush, I brought him in, salivating and being sick. Calld the vet (luckily its her only day in the surgery in the morning) and took him in. She said he had a swollen tongue and she thought he'd eaten a processionary caterpillar. We know there are lots of them, but they aren't in a 300m radius of our house. Anyway, she squirted saline and ABs into him and we have to wash his mouth out every 3-4 hours, give him ABs twice a day and squirt something else down his throat. This has to go on for a week. Its already very noisy in here, he hates it. Yesterday we think we discovered what he had actually done as he pounced on a small bee on the window. Stupid cat, will he never learn! He managed to remove his own sutures as we had to give up on the cone of shame, he was demented driving us mad and as high as a kite. . I thought his wound had herniated but vet said it was fat🤣. On the positive side, this lockdown has made me embrace technology more. Today, I managed a 5 way Messenger chat with my four offspring and family spanning the UK and Australia AND another with my three sisters. Alis girls Posted March 29, 2020 Share Posted March 29, 2020 We try and do a walk once a day. London isn't the easiest place to get away from people. Yesterday we were doing a spot of food shopping. Wearing masks and gloves walking down the road when an old lady over 2 m away coughed. OH scuttled off down the road like the hounds of hell were after him. I fell into a shop doorway in my haste to distance myself. Must have looked comical to anyone watching. One of our receptionists at work in our GP surgery has smokers cough. Shes been put off the front line into back room as was alarming few patients coming in. 😂 OH said on one of his walks someone in front of him sneezed , there was a mass exodus across the road. I used to see either no one or another runner or two, but today we passed loads of families walking!
